Today, the UK is expected to experience significant rainfall, with meteorological experts predicting that the country will see 6 weeks worth of precipitation in just 12 hours. What does this mean for the UK’s rough sleepers?

One considerate citizen used the first transaction of his monthly pay cheque to to alleviate this anxiety for someone in need. Meet South Yorkshire resident, Anthony.

Anthony explains how he met Big Issue North vendor Alan, who sells the magazine in Tudor Square, Sheffield City Centre. “I just met Alan through the streets and we started talking. Homelessness is harsh, especially in this kind of weather. I knew someone demolished his tent the other day and I felt sorry for him because I know he’s sleeping rough so I’m going to get him a new one because he’s a nice person and I think he deserves better.”

“I’m lucky I’m not homeless, I’m working. But we shouldn’t judge people who are homeless, because we’re all the same at the end of the day. It doesn’t matter what you’ve got, or rather, what you haven’t.”
