Scarborough

Strata is an exhibition of hand-coloured maps by contemporary artist Kathy Prendergast. It marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of William “Strata” Smith (1769-1839), known as the “father of English geology”.

The doors of one of the oldest concert halls in Europe will be thrown open from 10am to 3pm for tours, talks, exhibitions and dressing up. St George’s Hall is one of thousands of other venues to take part in National Heritage open days.

Drawn to the Moors is a new exhibition by Dennis Roddam, former BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year finalist. Roddam creates wildlife images and views of the North York Moors by blending different mediums and techniques, with a focus on ceramics and mixed-media paintings.
