The following poem was sent to our Manchester Office from Davyhulme Primary School. Thanks to teacher Kate Brookes and the poet, Shriya Pilli (11 years old).

No Home

Sat there
watching
waiting
watching the world go by
spinning, rushing
not caring
waiting… waiting
for nothing

Sat there
sitting
sitting in a cardboard box
hard, stiff
sleeping on the roadside
poor
lonely
begging
no more money

Sat there
thinking
dreaming
thinking about nothing
nothing to think about
no point dreaming
about a
better
nicer life
no life to live
nothing to cry about
no tears left

Sat there
dying
slowly
very slowly
sadly
no family
no friend
no house
no home
