Manchester Mace store raises £250 for the Trust

Many thanks to Mace store in Manchester Victoria Station, which has been collecting donations on the counter for The Big Issue in the North Trust over the last three months and raised over £250 for the charity.

Because of the close proximity of a magazine vendor who sells right outside the store, manager Jason Large got  to understand how The Big Issue in the North helps people earn an income and move on in their lives.

“I used to be a bit sceptical whenever I saw someone selling The Big Issue in the North because I didn’t know what it was really about,” he said. “I used to think, why don’t they just go and get a proper job? But now I understand that The Big Issue in the North is giving people a chance.

“It’s great having Dave as the vendor outside our Mace store. He goes out of our way to help out and he’s always nice and smiling with the staff and customers. He even helped out with our own fundraising appeal for Children in Need this year. It’s great working together with him.”

Dave, who has sold The Big Issue in the North for around a year now, said: “I’d like to say a special thank you to Mace staff and Jason in particular, and all the staff and customers who have made a donation towards this collection over the last three months. Jason is always looking out for me while I’m on pitch. I want to wish everyone a happy Christmas and excellent 2013!”

Many thanks to Jason Large and all the staff and customers of Mace, Manchester Victoria.
