While most of us are getting ready for Christmas, we have been sadly reminded that many of our vendors continue to struggle with homelessness, drug or alcohol addiction, poor physical and mental health or other issues at this time, too.
We were informed yesterday that one of the regular sellers of The Big Issue in the North magazine has passed away.
While we can’t say more about who it is and where he worked due to confidentiality we wanted to share this sad news with you to give you an insight into the lives of Big Issue sellers and homeless people.
This death is a stark reminder that the average age at death of a homeless man is 47 years old – significantly lower than the average of 85 years for the general male population.
