Seasonal Price Increase
Over the Christmas period, there is a temporary price increase for the magazine.
During the Christmas period, The Big Issue produces seasonal ‘bumper’ editions, which include extra content and come with a temporary price increase.
From late November, the bumper issues go on sale at RRP £5. Vendors buy the magazines for £2.50, meaning they can earn £2.50 profit per sale, helping them earn a little bit more at an expensive time of year.
Alongside the bumper editions, some Big Issue North vendors are also selling our exclusive 2026 calendar – RRP £10. Created in partnership with Street Paws, all proceeds from the calendar go directly to the vendor you buy it from, offering even more support during a particularly challenging time of year for many of our vendors.
Big Issue North vendors are self-employed. Under the regular weekly model, vendors buy copies from one of our regional offices for £2 each and sell them on established pitches across towns and cities in the North for a RRP of £4, keeping the profit from every sale. We believe everyone has the right to earn a dignified, independent income – anyone who wants to be a vendor and sell The Big Issue can do so.

Big Issue North Trust is a registered charity (charity number 1056041), which raises funds to provide a range of support for vendors, including support accessing services, opening bank accounts, help getting ID, home furnishing packages and projects such as breakfast clubs. We also work to provide vendors with contactless payment devices – and the photo ID required to use it; as well as being more convenient for our vendors and customers, we hope that this will lead to increased earnings.
