The Big Issue in the North Trust has been chosen as a charity to be supported by this year’s Transmission Live, a series of music festivals which take place in the grounds of the University of Manchester’s Jodrell Bank Observatory in Cheshire.

Over two days in July and two days in August, bands including Sigur Ros, Johnny Marr and New Order will perform in front of the massive 76 meter high Lovell Radio Telescope. There will also be an evening of music from the Halle Orchestra as part of the events.

Staff and volunteers from The Big Issue in the North will be attending to promote the magazine and the charity, and some proceeds from the events will go to The Trust.

This is the seventh Live Transmission from Jodrell Bank and the four evenings of music are sure to bring in huge crowds. With a diverse range of music, projections on to the Lovell dish, interactive science demonstrations by the Jodrell Bank team, great food and electric atmospheres, the shows will be like no other live music events taking place in the UK this year.
