While Marvel’s movies go from strength to strength DC hasn’t been having much luck with its big-budget comic blockbusters. Batman v Superman and the like may provide some entertainment but little cohesion and poor storytelling left most of us disappointed. Hoping to change this, Wonder Woman leaps on to screens this week, finally giving the lead to a female superhero. There’s no denying Gal Gadot stole the show as Wonder Woman in BvS and now she’s given the chance to shine in her own origin movie. As an Amazon princess she leaves her island home of Themyscira to help the allies in the First World War. Early reports claim DC is finally turning a corner but without wanting to dash hopes, they’re worth taking with a pinch of salt.
