LA-based electronic duo KNOWER have found global success after sharing their music on YouTube. Genevieve Artadi speaks to Big Issue North as the band prepares to tour the UK

What informs your music/songwriting?
Life experiences, cool music, art and movies and wanting to express thoughts and feelings in a deep and interesting way.

How have you evolved as a band/artist evolved over the years?
We’ve always pushed ourselves to try new things stylistically and over the years have become increasingly comfortable with the adventure.

What are you up to at the moment artistically?
We are both making solo albums. I am practicing drums and piano.

What’s on your rider?
Snacks and tequila.

Tell us your most embarrassing or surreal experience.
Surreal was playing our song Butts, Tits Money caked in makeup at 6am after Santa Claus’s appearance on national Lithuanian morning news.

What song do you wish you’d written?
Don’t Worry Baby, by The Beach Boys.

What’s your worst lyric?
‘I better be in the front seat when we cruising down love street.’

Knower perform at the Brudenell Social Club on Tuesday 21 March and Band On The Wall on Friday 30 March.
