How would you describe your sound?
I grew up listening to highlife and hiplife music, which are indigenous Ghanaian music, and so these influenced my music a lot. My sound is afrobeats, which has a fusion of highlife and hiplife music.

What informs your music and songwriting?
Well, I get to travel a lot and get to pick different vibes from where I go. I come from an era where we always partied and that also influenced my music.

How have you evolved as an artist over the years?
I am not scared to try new things. I started from the era where there were no social media, so it’s about fusing the old and new and staying abreast with my surroundings.

What are you up to at the moment artistically?
I dropped a single in April and just released the visuals to Say I Do, which features Sarkodie. My next single is almost ready to be released and the visuals will follow some weeks after. Since I double up as a DJ as well, I am currently in Europe to play Afrobeats Weekender at Marbella and off to Ghana for my annual beach rave.

What’s on your rider?
Pioneer CDJ Nexus. Serato mixer. Sound monitor. Dressing room must be cosy and must have refreshments and food.

Tell us your most embarrassing or surreal experience.
I remember I was having an amazing night at a concert and for some funny reason my laptop decided to shut down on me during my performance. It couldn’t get it back on until my set was over.
