What informs your music and songwriting?
Life experience mostly. Also the times in which I live. I like to play off genres past and present and use genre almost like an instrument.

How have you evolved as an artist over the years?
Mostly through my mistakes and a willingness to improve. Something’s only a mistake if you do it more than once.

What are you up to at the moment artistically?
Aside from musical projects I opened a restaurant in Milan with my new drummer Sergio called Sixième. Actually the parallels between music and food have been interesting to note.

What’s on your rider?
A little bit of everything. The band are all Italian guys – gotta keep them happy.

What song do you wish you’d written?
Beck’s song Dreams would have fit beautifully on my album. But there are thousands.

What’s your worst lyric?
“You’ve made a fool of everyone.” We’d all already heard it.
